About Us

ALBERGUE VILLARES DE ÓRBIGO

Albergue Villares de Órbigo is one of the most beautiful albergues along the Camino Francés for pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostela and is situated in a small village in the valley of the river Órbigo, 276 kilometres from Santiago de Compostela. The village is located between León (35km) and Astorga (16km) and 2km after Hospital de Orbigo. So avoid the crowds and walk about 30 minutes across the fields from Hospital, you will not be disappointed!

Villares de Órbigo currently has about 615 inhabitants and includes a church dedicated to Santiago as well as a small health clinic open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a grocery shop, a pharmacy and a very friendly, bar and restaurant opposite us across the street.

Albergue Villares de Órbigo was opened in 2010 by a young Spanish couple, Pablo and Belén who tastefully renovated the 100 year old farmhouse which is constructed around an inviting courtyard.

The planted courtyard, with bar, seating and clothes washing facilities is a good place for meeting your fellow pilgrims and enjoying a cool drink (we serve excellent and affordable local wines). It’s also a safe place for bicycles. The rear garden is always available to relax after your Camino.

We serve a communal dinner and breakfast, always fresh and very tasty. We have 24 beds in total divided over 4 private rooms and 2 shared rooms with 6 and 9 beds.

Albergue Villares de Órbigo is open from 1 April to 31 October from 12:00 to 22:00.

We offer various sleeping options like:

  • Shared rooms for 6 and 9 guests, with shared bathrooms
  • A private twin room with private bathroom
  • Two private twin rooms with shared bathroom
  • Private triple room with shared bathroom

Reservations for individuals and groups are accepted.
